Our first month in South Korea

It is our first month in South Korea, today it is exactly three weeks since we have arrived here. During these three weeks we have been experiencing a lot of new things. The way we were received here when we arrived at the airport was amazing…and we felt very special…it was really a surprise for us.

We definitely experienced culture shock, especially with the language. When we walk down the street and see all those little letters and we don’t have any idea of the meaning…It is still very difficult especially when we need to buy something. Everything here is still new for us, but we already feel better and started to do few things by ourselves.

God has blessed us with amazing people here e.g. Jongwoo with his willingness to help us settle and for his friendship. Stephen (one of the teachers), for teaching us more about the culture, showing us new places, he really has a servant heart. He takes us everywhere we need to go. And then of course, Pastor Daniel, he is the school principal, a pastor, a professor at the University and a real mentor. He is ministering so much to us through his attitude, lifestyle & humility.

Our school will start today with a time of Worship, getting to know one another and then some orientation. We will also have the privilege to meet some parents of the 25 students that we will be serving with. All the students and teachers will be living in the same building from Monday to Friday.

Just to give you an idea of what our schedule will look like during our stay here…Tilanie will be teaching English Grammar & Literature three to four classes per day. She has been very busy with the preparation of these lessons. I'll teach soccer 4 times a week at the school. And every Friday we travel to Seoul to spend the weekend there.

In April we will start ministry in Seoul, we don't know exactly how is going to be, but we know that every Sunday we will work with the youth of a Methodist church.

We came to the school in Gapyeong (+- 100 km from Seoul) last week to do some cleaning and preparations for the new term.

The school is located in the middle of the mountains besides a river, at the moment some parts of the river are still frozen, so it is quite cold here. We have been told that in spring season, the views will be spectacular, and this is a place where many people visit during that season because of the beauty.

We feel really blessed to be here and we are very excited about the words that God gave to us for this time. We really believe that He is going to surprise us.

It has been a great challenge to be here, but at the same time we feel that there is a fire burning inside of us for being totally dependent on God.
We are in Promised Land... and we can see many giants, they are really big, but we know that they are going to fall, because our God is with us.

We are very grateful for all your prayer and your support.

Thank you for being HERE in Korea with us…..You are part of this journey.

May God bless you.

May the Lord lead you and guide you every step of the way. May strongholds around you bow to the Lordship of Jesus in your lives. May He use you in a mighty way. Amen!
